Did you know Medicare Part D plans may change each year?

DATE ADDED:

ANSWER

Medicare Part D (prescription drugs) plans may change each year.  The plan that was best for you in 2008 might not be the best plan for you in 2009.  Each year from November 15 through December 31 is open enrollment.  During that time you may change your plan to whatever plan is best for you.  Therefore, if you are on Medicare Part D, you might want to review your plan.

A good source of help in reviewing these Medicare Part D plans is OSHIIP, the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program, a division of the Ohio Department of Insurance.  The new plans are generally available in the middle of October, so beginning on October 15, Medicare recipients may want to call OSHIIP at 1-800-686-1578 to review the plans and pick one to be ready for open enrollment.

OSHIIP also provides information on Medicare health coverage in general, Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicare supplemental insurance, Long-term care insurance, home health care coverage, and retiree health plan coverage.

The Legal Aid Society of Columbus and OSHIIP have formed a partnership in order to better serve you.  There will be an OSHIIP volunteer at the Legal Aid Society’s office to meet in person with individuals about Medicare concerns.  In addition to other Medicare information, the OSHIIP volunteer can help you compare prescription coverage and costs.

To make an appointment about your Medicare questions call 614-224-8374 or 614-241-2001.

Sincerely,
